Stephen Runde Obituary, Death – Please remember Stephen J. “Steve” Runde’s family through this difficult time. At the age of 70, Stephen was strengthened by the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church and passed into rest with his family by his side on Thursday, May 25, 2023. In addition to being the devoted father of Stephanie (Joseph) Whealen, Melanie (Reid) Cranmer, and Emily Runde, Steve was also the cherished brother of Michael (Darlene) Runde, Judy (Bill) Martin, Jerry (Karen), Sue (Terry), Shannon, Kathy (the late Doug) Lundquist, Joe (Jeanette), Runde, and Jeff (Tonya), as well as uncle, great-uncle Steve’s parents, Joseph and Betty Runde, died before him.
Steve was a straightforward individual who was reared in Teutopolis, Illinois. Second oldest of eight children, a devoted son, and a helpful brother. Twin sister. He began his engineering career at the Saint Louis Water Department after receiving his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois. He later moved to the Saint Louis Street Department, where he held a variety of positions, including Street Commissioner and Traffic Commissioner, before concluding his career as the Director of Saint Louis City Streets.
Our loving Father and Friend, may you rest in peace. On May 31, there will be a visitation at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa Street, 63109, from 4 to 8 o’clock. At 10 a.m. on June 1, Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Church, 6596 Smiley Avenue, 63139, will hold a Mass of Christian Burial. Resurrection Cemetery burial.
