Stan Graham Obituary, Death – Stan Graham’s departure is terrible. During the 1950s and 1960s, Tas, Lyle, Stan, and Des Graham were all members of the North Hobart football team. Stan was born in 1939 and began his football career with Swansea when he was 15 years old. Between the years 1955 and 1966, he served as premier. Rel and Bonnie, two sisters, were members of one of the first female teams at Swansea.
Stan joined North Hobart in 1956 and quickly established himself as an important, dependable, and tough player. Over the course of 150 games, Stan did not miss a single game due to an injury or illness. He learned his craft from North Hobart legends such as Noel Reid, John Leedham, Darrel Eaton, and John Devine, and he played with them as well.
Additionally, Stan earned the Best and Fairest award in three different organizations (TFL Reserves in 1959, Midlands Football Association in 1964, and Fingal District Football Association in 1966) and coached Tunnack, Colebrook, Parattah, and Franklin. He played for Swansea, Tunnack, and Parratah and won a total of five premierships during his playing career. Stan participated in 391 games for Tassie until retiring at the age of 38 at Swansea.
In 1955, Stan was a member of the Swansea team that competed first against Sorell and then in the grand final against Triabunna. He was joined on the field by his father and three brothers. Stan, Des, Tas, and Lyle were the only members of North Hobart’s senior football team during that period. Des, the youngest brother, has a clear recollection of playing football with his brothers when he was a little child. Stan would frequently bounce the ball over their house and make Des and his brothers run around it. Des has a distinct memory of this. Des asserts that Stan was always the last one to kick. We are thinking about Stan’s family, friends, and teammates during this time. Armbands colored black will be worn in Stan’s honor during our forthcoming games at home. Stan, I want to thank you and your family for the service you’ve provided to our club and to football in Tasmania.
