Shirley Stillions Obituary, Death – Our dearly beloved mother Shirley Maxine Stillions, age 73, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on the evening of Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at her home with her family by her side. She was called home to be with her Lord and Savior. Shirley was the daughter of the late John Shields and Nancy (Moore) Shields, and she was born on June 22, 1949 in the city of Glendive, in the state of Montana.
She worked at Schreiber Cheese in Carthage for forty years, during which time she amassed a large number of coworkers and customers that she came to see as family. She also earned a credential as a Master Gardener through an online program. Shirley tied the knot with the man who would become the love of her life, Daniel Stillions, on May 31, 1997 in Shell Knob, Missouri. He passed away on November 7, 2013, before she did. By confession, she was a Christian.
Shirley had a zest for life and enjoyed a wide variety of activities, including bowling, sailing, fishing, and writing poems and songs. She was quite the comic, often delivering jokes and lighting up the room with her lovely grin, but the most important thing in her life was loving and caring for her family. She enjoyed having a few beers with her friends, scratching lottery tickets, and beating all of us at rummy. She also inspired her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to have the greatest lives possible and to be happy. She never stopped exhorting all of us to have a good time, to treat one another with consideration, and to be kind. She will be sorely missed and utterly omitted from our thoughts.
Elizabeth Shields, Donna Kelley, and Nancy Smith are her three daughters who are among those who have carried on her legacy after her passing. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Rachel Kelley (Ryan), Tristan Kelley (Rachel), Dylan Hedge, Alicia Hedge (Josh), Alexander Sneed (Breanna), Mickey Cortez (Haley), Kirby Cortez, Derek Cortez (Kristian), Anthony Turk (Brit), Cory Prev
