Shirley DeCarlo DiGirolamo Obituary, Death  – Shirley DeCarlo DiGirolamo, age 93, who had been a resident of North Haven for the past 63 years, passed away in a calm and peaceful manner on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at The Landing of North Haven. She had been married to the late John DiGirolamo for a total of 69 years until he passed away. Shirley was the daughter of Dominic DeCarlo, who passed away, and Martha Manchester DeCarlo, who also passed away.

And she was born in West Haven on February 23, 1930. She received her high school diploma from West Haven in 1947, and she later served as a library paraprofessional at Mill Road and Clintonville Schools in North Haven. She was fondly known as “Mrs. D.” by the residents of the neighborhood and by her former students. Shirley was a member of the congregation of St. Barnabas Church, and she was a member of the choir there for a number of years.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends during the holidays, especially in the kitchen, where she shared her talents with her sons but never revealed any of her trade secrets. Over the years, Shirley and her late husband had a lot of fun traveling all over the place with their family and some of their closest neighbors and friends. Karen and Mark DiGirolamo are her children, and their father is Randy DiGirolamo. She is the grandmother of Kristina DiGirolamo Paul (Dan), as well as Barry DiGirolamo (Casey).

The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, located at 36 Washington Avenue, will be open for visitation on Thursday, June 8 from 4 to 7 o’clock in the evening. On the morning of Friday, June 9, at 9:30 a.m., the funeral procession for her will depart from the funeral home. A Christian funeral service, consisting of a Mass, will be held in the Church of the Resurrection in Wallingford at ten in the morning. After the service, interment will take place at All Saints Cemetery.
