Roger Stalter Obituary, Death – Roger Stalter, 68, died riding his Harley on June 3, 2023. Roger was the first of nine children born to Ora “Dean” and Aletha “Lee” (Ley) Stalter in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, on July 24, 1954. He raised eight siblings: Daniel, Vicky, Jodie, Deana, Tina, Kevin, Marci, and Misty. Roger was a two-time Shepherd High School all-state wrestler. Roger joined the Army right after graduating in 1972. He was honorably discharged as a Specialist 4th Class in 1974 after serving in Vietnam.

Roger, a hopeless romantic, was showered with love. Rob, Josh, Taylor, and Mitch (with Kelly (Haynak) Edwards) were his six children. Roger married Shannon McCray on October 14, 2016, and she died in 2019. Roger, a kind and generous man, would give someone his shirt. Roger was old-school and sarcastic. He loved tinkering on his old automobiles and Harleys. He worked hard and owned Stalter Express for 10 years, hauling west coast produce. MLT Trucking employed him at his death. All who knew Roger will miss his smile, humor, and freedom.

His children, Rob (Erika) Rolston of Mt. Pleasant, Mitch Bailey of Chicago, IL, Lace Stalter of Traverse City, Taylor Stalter of Mt. Pleasant, and Shay (Tristan) Barnes of Lake; grandchildren, Ayla Rolston, Amber (Neil) Horning, Samuel Elmore-Hart, Christian Elmore-Turner, Grayson Couron, and Hudson Barnes; great-grandchildren, Emberly Miles and Lakelynn Horning; siblings, Vicky (Fred) Schafer of Beal City, Jodie (Mike) Razdrh of North Car Roger was predeceased by his parents, Dean and Lee Stalter; son, Josh Stauffer; brother, Dan Stalter; wife, Shannon (McCray) Stalter; and brother-in-law, Edgard Romero.

On Saturday, July 15, a memorial motorcycle-only procession will leave Shepherd High School (100 E. Hall St.) at 11 a.m. and arrive at The Chosen Ones MC (4772 S. Lake Rd.) in Greenville at 1 p.m. After Military Honors at 2 p.m., everyone is encouraged to celebrate Roger’s life. Donations to the family’s wishes can replace flowers.
