Mike Dion Obituary, Death – After a valiant two and a half year struggle with esophageal cancer, Mike Dion passed away at the Moffitt Cancer Center with his devoted and loving wife by his side. Mike lived in Vermont his entire life till 2019. He joined the American Army after graduating from Rice Memorial High School, spending the most of his service in Korea.
He then made his way back to his home Vermont, where he spent many happy years working and living. Here, he met Lynette, the woman he would spend the next 25 years with. They had wonderful times with Mike’s close friends and family members, who adored him for many reasons, including his never-ending wit and humor for which he was well-known. During his final hours, he continued to joke around with the medical team.
He enjoyed golfing, riding his Harley, snowmobiling, trekking in the woods, sailing, going on road trips, landscaping, and relaxing in his pool with his wife by his side. In 2019, Mike and Lynette moved to Wesley Chapel, Florida, where they made new acquaintances, went out to eat, swam and listened to music at their community lagoon, rode golf carts, walked their cherished dog Lucky, and played golf in new locations.
Mike is survived by Lynette, his beloved wife and soul mate, as well as his mother, Barbara Dion, three siblings, Mary Jo Miller (Randy), Melissa Dion, and Marty Dion (Holly), as well as his mother-in-law, Carol Loges, two brothers-in-law, Mark Loges (Tara), and Brian Loges (Debbie). He also leaves behind a number of nieces, nephews, and other close relatives. Robert (Butch) Dion, his father, and Donald Loges, his father-in-law, preceded him in death. On August 5, from 3 to 7 p.m., a memorial service will be conducted at the Miller residence at 1201 Spear Street in South Burlington, Vermont.
