Mary Moore Obituary, Death –  We regret to inform you that Mary Ruth Moore, a well-liked Professor Emerita of Photography, died away not too long ago. It is with a sad heart that we have to share this news with you. We sincerely apologize in advance for any trouble this may create. Ben Reynolds, a Senior Lecturer at the university, is Mary Ruth’s personal friend and a former coworker.

He has described her as “unpretentiously and purely an artist.” She is noted for being a highly passionate lighthouse who focused encouragement in the studio and classroom to assist pupils home in on their talents. She has helped a lot of students realize what their strengths are. Because of this, pupils had a great deal of respect for her. It is said that she had a major impact, both positively and negatively, on the lives of the people she taught and the students she taught.

At her retirement celebration, solo exhibition reception, and memorial scholarship dedication that took place in 2017 at the Lamar Dodd School of Art, Professor Michael Marshall said, “For those of you who have studied with Mary, you already know the thrill of being in the classroom with her.

Mary retired that year, and the events took place at the Lamar Dodd School of Art. In 2017, Mary took her retirement, and in her honor, Professor Michael Marshall was presented with a memorial award in her name. She approaches the topic of the materiality of light with a sense of awe and reverence as her approach to the matter. That her awareness is so keen that she can even avoid walking into a beam of sunshine has been noted previously. After hearing that, I have no trouble believing it.
