Lawrence Cooper Obituary, Death, Lawrence Cooper Has Died

Lawrence Cooper Obituary, Death – On Sunday, May 28, 2023, our beloved friend Lawrence Cooper, who served as a long-time volunteer, a tutor, and the Chairperson of our Trust board, passed away. Our announcement comes with a heavy heart as we share the news with you. We would like to express our sincerest condolences and sympathy to his family, who earlier today gathered for a private ceremony.

Lawrence was extremely giving with his time for the entirety of his involvement with the Center, which spanned many years. He brought his knowledgeable abilities to the Rowley Community Shed, where he built wooden toys, fixed damaged toys for the local Kindy, and fixed up old laptops to give to students and families. Additionally, he instructed pupils from Te Manawa Rowley School in the process of disassembling and restoring older laptops, which the students were then able to take home with them once they had completed the process.

The school’s principal thought it was really impressive how the pupils made it a point to attend these classes on a consistent basis. Lawrie invested a significant amount of time in getting to know each student on an individual basis, and he thoroughly enjoyed instructing pupils in the acquisition of new abilities. Lawrie, or “Lawry” as many people in the neighborhood lovingly referred to him, was a humble and compassionate man who did anything he could to make the community a better place. He will be sorely missed by everyone. During this difficult time, everyone here at the Rowley Community Centre, including the staff, board, tutors, and volunteers, would like to extend our deepest love and condolences to his family. 0
