Kreidler Jane Obituary, Death – Mary Jane (Smith) Kreidler lived from July 30, 1928, until May 31, 2023. Laura, Mary Jane’s daughter, was by her side as she died away in Syracuse. Mary Jane was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan. John, her devoted spouse, passed away in 2013. Her grandchildren An and Mai Siwinski as well as her daughters Susan (Michael Arruda), Laura (Greg Siwinkski), and Kathy survive her.

Mary Jane went to Kalamazoo Central High School and McKinley Elementary School. She maintained relationships with the classmates she met and assisted in planning years’ worth of high school reunions. After receiving her occupational therapy degree from Western Michigan University, Mary Jane started working with children who had cerebral palsy. She went on a blind date with John, and six months later, in 1952, they were wed.

For the most of her life, Mary Jane participated in the Kalamazoo Girl Scouts. At Camp Merrie Woode, she counseled while she camped. She was a troop leader, a neighborhood organizer, and eventually a board member and member of numerous committees starting when her girls were Brownies. She attended a number of national gatherings as a Kalamazoo Council representative.

She will be remembered as “Winky” by many women in Kalamazoo. Mary Jane was a skilled weaver and seamstress who created lovely garments for her daughters while also being an active member of the Kalamazoo Weavers Guild. She was a founder member of Burke View Garden Club and an enthusiastic gardener. Mary Jane contributed to Ladies Library as well.
