Joyce Cardinal Obituary, Death – Joyce Cardinal passed away on June 7th, 2023 at the Comox Valley Hospice after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, which she was diagnosed with in April 2022. Her passing was peaceful and unruffled. John, her husband, and I did not leave her side at any point during the ordeal. Even though I am feeling a lot of sadness and weariness at the moment, I am also pleased that she is no longer in agony and happy that we were able to spend so much time together.
Although I am sorry that she is no longer in suffering, I am happy that we were able to spend so much time together.
I can’t say enough good things about the staff and volunteers at the Island Health community health services and palliative care team and most recently the Comox Valley hospice who were all exceedingly kind, helpful, and gentle with Joyce and made both her and I feel as comfortable as possible.
