Joe Halus Obituary, Death – Burton native Joseph Theodore Haluska, 82, passed away at Riverbend Care Center on April 29, 2006. On Thursday, May 4, 2006, at 1 PM, funeral services will be held at the Brown Funeral Home-Grand Blanc Chapel, 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc.
There will be a funeral service complete with military rites in the Great Lakes National Cemetery. On Tuesday and Wednesday from 12 to 3 and from 5-8 PM, the family will be open to guests. You can give to the charity of their choice in someone’s honor. Steve and Katherine (Smeski) Haluska welcomed Joe into the world on December 30, 1923 in New Brighton, Pennsylvania. They were married on March 21, 1947.
By Betty Lewis. During World War II, Joe proudly served in the American Army in the Philippines. Before retiring from Estes Builders, he worked as a builder and general contractor for the bulk of his life. Joe loved to can food and was an excellent cook. He read endlessly and he enjoyed gardening and watching birds.
His quick wit and love of life were known to all of his family and friends. We shall feel his absence very keenly. Surviving are: wife, Betty of Flint; children, Christine (Larry) Lewis of Burton, Chuck (Sue) Haluska of Dearborn Heights, Marcie (Pete) Volk of Las Vegas, NV, Jill (Bruce) Fishler of Flint, Jackie Walker of Riverfalls, WI; sister, Ginny Cieliczka of Flint; grandchildren, Steve, Benn, Korie, Jared, Hillary and Mallory; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Before him passed away his parents, sister Margie, and daughter Lisa.
