James Nechodom Obituary, Death – When we found out that retired FVMPD Officer James Nechodom had passed away this past week, our initial emotion was one of shock, followed by a profound sense of loss. Approximately thirty years of Jim’s law enforcement career in the Fox Valley were spent working for the Fox Valley Municipal Police Department (FVMPD). Jim’s law enforcement career spanned a total of forty years.
After Jim reached retirement age, he continued to contribute to the betterment of his community by accepting positions as a security guard at the Great Wisconsin Cheese Festival, the Outagamie County Fair, and WIR. In addition to that, he served as a law enforcement officer for the Shiocton Police Department as well as the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office.
Both Jim’s grandpa Adam Nechodom and his father Chief Robert Nechodom worked for the Little Chute Police Department. Jim’s grandfather was an officer there, and his father was the Chief. Jim’s name is a combination of his mother and father’s names. Jim was both their son and their grandchild at the same time. He was their only child. Because Jim was born and raised in the community of Little Chute, he was familiar with a considerable number of families and had personal connections in our town, both of which proved to be advantageous in the course of events.
People will most likely remember Jim for his gift as a storyteller, his contagious smile, and the selfless manner in which he carried himself throughout his life. A memorial ceremony will be held on the Monday, June 5th, 2023, and it will feature rituals for police enforcement personnel. The year 2023 has been chosen as the time for the event.
