James Michael “Jim” Perry Obituary, Death – At 1:55 a.m. on June 6, 2023, James Michael “Jim” Perry, 73, of Findlay, Illinois, passed away at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.Pastor Mike Reynolds will preside over the funeral services on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Shelbyville, Illinois location of Howe & Yockey Funeral Home. The funeral home will be open for visitation on Friday, June 8, 2023 from 5:00–8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00–time of service.

Military services will be performed at the burial in Findlay Cemetery in Findlay, Illinois, by Clarence Bixler American Legion Post #409. Jim Perry, the son of Raymond Russell and Rita Rose (Matheson) Perry, was born on July 12, 1949, in Decatur, Illinois. In the year 1969, he received his high school diploma from Findlay. During the Vietnam War, Jim served in the US Marine Corps.

Jim started his career as a self-employed livestock hauler in the 1970s. He then worked for H.O. Dick Transfer Co. and Naber Grain Corporation before retiring from Day Trucking in Bement, Illinois, in 2019. He served on the Piatt County Fair Board and was the livestock superintendent there for 28 years. He was a member of the Clarence Bixler American Legion Post #409 in Findlay, Illinois.

Jim is survived by his daughters Jamie Perry (Harvey Allen) of Mattoon, IL, Ed Perry (Beth) of Shelbyville, IL, Corey Perry (Emily) of Tower Hill, IL, half-sister Marla Weirather (Darin) of Carthage, IL, six grandchildren, Mackenzie Marts (Gage), Collin Perry, Richard Long, Anna Perry, Caden Perry, and Corbin Perry, and one great granddaughter, Zadie Perry.His paternal grandparents, Russell and Dora Perry, his maternal grandparents, Jim and Lucille Matheson, and his mother, Rita Rose Prosser (Ray), all predeceased him.Jim’s family would like to express their gratitude to Mary, a very close friend of Jim, and the staff at St. John’s Hospital for their excellent care.Condolences can be sent at www.howeandyockey.com.
