Herbert Eagon Obituary, Death –  Brigadier General Eagon held the record for being the oldest person to ever hold the position of commander of the 73rd Infantry Brigade at the time of his passing. This record was kept till the time of his dying. He was 84 years old at that point in time. Eagon retired from the service in 1993 as the final commander of the 73rd Infantry Brigade, a position he had held from 1990 to 1993. He had served in the Ohio National Guard for 37 years prior to his retirement from the military. In 1993, Eagon decided to end his career and retire.
