Greg Thompson Obituary, Death – Gregory B. Thompson, who was 65 years old and from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on May 30, 2023 at the St. Luke’s Hospice Centre in Cedar Rapids. Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 4 to 7 o’clock in the evening, visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Memorial Service will be held in the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 11 am. Just for the family. The son of Horace Francis Thompson and Sue Ellen Bargesser, he was born on January 9, 1958 in Carbondale, Illinois. His parents’ names are Horace Francis Thompson and Sue Ellen Bargesser.
In 1976, he received his high school diploma from Thomas Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids. Jody and Greg’s wedding took place in Cedar Rapids on September 7th, 2002. Greg started his career at Farmstead Packing House and remained there for 13 years before moving on to Cryovac, where he remained for 20 years till retiring from Treehouse in 2018. Greg was a bowler for many years, and he looked up to the many family get-togethers he would have with their children and grandchildren. Even though Greg was a tremendous admirer of the Iowa Hawkeyes basketball team, his grandchildren are probably going to remember him best as the Monopoly champion.
His family includes his wife of 20 years, Jody; his children, Brooke (Jeff) Armstrong of Cedar Rapids, Matt (Lina) Thompson of Cedar Rapids, Jessie Thompson of Cedar Rapids, Tim (Casey) McMahon of Walker, Stephanie McMahon (Dan Kramer) of Marion and Brian (Ashley) McMahon of Van Horne; two brothers, Doug (Shirley) Thompson of Cedar Rapids and Rod Greg’s grandparents, his twin brother and sister, Terry and Tina, his nephew Matthew, and his grandson Wade Gene all passed away before him. Greg’s parents, Horace and Sue Ellen Thompson, his twin brother and sister, and his grandparents all passed away before him. Because of the excellent care that Greg received at St. Luke’s Intensive Care Unit and St. Luke’s Hospice Centre, Greg’s family would like to express their gratitude.
