Greg Dyer Obituary, Death, Greg Dyer Has Sadly Passed Away

Greg Dyer Obituary, Death – We regretfully have to inform you once more of the passing of one of our active Cadet Force Officers. After battling sickness, Lieutenant Greg Dyer, NZCF, of Training Ship Waikato died away on Monday, June 5. In 2008, Greg enlisted in the New Zealand Cadet Forces as an officer and joined the No. 7 (City of Hamilton) Squadron. He advanced through the ranks, staffing and participating in many NZCF training sessions and events, and he even held senior positions on Cadet150 and Ex Cadet 2020.

Greg said it was a wonderful gift to be able to have that shared experience with him over a long period of time and that he had joined cadets when one of his sons joined the unit. He assumed command of No. 7 SQN in the middle of 2013 and remained in that position for several years before transferring to Training Ship Rangiriri in 2018. Training Ship Rangiriri was renamed Training Ship Waikato to better reflect the unit’s history, location, and future aims during Greg’s leadership, and the unit went through a period of expansion.

Greg participated in numerous inbound and outbound Cadet Exchange programs, taking great pride in the development and leadership of his cadets. People who knew him regarded him as a kind person who offered wise counsel and solutions-focused leadership while flashing his distinctive grin. The NZCF extends its sympathies to the family and will announce the specifics of the memorial ceremony after the family has verified their preferences.
