Grant Harrer Obituary, Great Falls Mount, Grant Harrer has died

Grant Harrer Obituary, Death – Grant Harrer, a physician and rancher from Great Falls, Montana, died peacefully on May 25, 2023, accompanied by his wife and three children. On September 6, 1953, Grant was born to William (Bill) and Dolores Harrer. He grew up on his family’s Green Meadow Ranch near Helena, Montana, learning about black Angus cattle.

Grant attended a variety of schools during his pre-college years. With each move, he swiftly built a solid reputation and rose to the top of the class. Working cattle, engaging in 4H, collaborating with his father, Bill, to develop the Montana Steer of Merit program, and competing in speech and debate rounded out his childhood. Grant’s parents bought Lost Lake Ranch in Geraldine, Montana, in September 1968. Grant attended Helena schools until 1970, when he transferred to Great Falls for his final year, graduating from Great Falls High School in 1971.

Grant was not only clever and hardworking, but he was also eccentric and had a good sense of humor. His pals would frequently receive calls at an ungodly hour (actually, still in the middle of the night), and the next thing they knew, they’d be eating breakfast at a greasy spoon. They’d be walking around telephone poles by 6 a.m., assisting Grant in his search for glass insulators to add to his collection. The Harrer family asks that donations in Grant’s name be made to the Sletten Cancer Institute Sletten Cancer Institute | Cancer Treatment Center | Great Falls, MT (benefis.org) or the Montana 4-H Foundation MONTANA 4-H FOUNDATION – HOME (mt4hfoundation.org).
