Erna Dickman Obituary, Death – Erna Lee (Staake) Dickman passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023 at the age of 88 at Concordia Village in Springfield. She was formerly of Jacksonville, Illinois. She was the daughter of Julius and Laura (Roegge) Staake and was born on February 26, 1935 in the vicinity of Meredosia. She tied the knot with Wayne W. Dickman on May 29, 1954, at Immanuel Lutheran Church located close to Meredosia. He passed away on January 25, 2013, which came before her time.
She is survived by her son, Jay Wayne Dickman, and his wife Nancy, who live in Houston, Texas; her granddaughter, Jessica Nicole Kirby, and her husband Adam, who live in Austin, Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews. Her parents, her husband, one daughter, Christine Ann Dickman, and two brothers, Ray Staake and Gail Staake, all passed away before she did. She was the last surviving member of her family.
Mrs. Dickman is now enjoying her retirement after spending many years working as a claims representative for Country Mutual Insurance Company. She had been a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville for a very long time, and she had previously been a part of the Salem Ladies Guild, the Salem Altar Guild, and the Salem Quilters. In 2014, Erna relocated to the Concordia Village Retirement Center. While she was a resident there, she participated in a wide variety of volunteer activities.
The funeral will take place in the Concordia Village Chapel in Springfield on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at eleven in the morning. The interment will take place at Diamond Grove Cemetery after the funeral. Prior to the service, friends and family will gather with the family at Concordia Village from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. It is advised that memorial donations be made to the Concordia Village Benevolent Care Fund.
