Diane Johnson Obituary, Death – On Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the age of 75, Diane Edge Johnson, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away. She was born to David Shafford Edge and Vera Turner Edge in the fall of 1947 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. For 56 years, Diane gave her adored husband Harold Cecil Johnson her whole attention.
Barry and Bradley were two great sons that they raised together. Diane was a loving and devoted mother who always prioritized her family. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and found tremendous satisfaction in seeing them flourish.
Many friendships were sparked through Diane’s employment, which she began at Habilitation Services before moving on to Allstate Insurance. For more than 50 years, she also held the unpaid position of preacher’s wife. She particularly loved taking summertime road trips across the nation to watch her grandson Will play baseball when she retired. Additionally, Diane had many years of friendship at Fairview Baptist Church with her friends while singing in the choir and taking special pleasure in baking goods for their yearly charity bake sale.
Harold Cecil Johnson, her husband, her son Hugh Barron Johnson, his wife Kay Shaw, and their offspring Robert Thomas Shaw (Shannon) and Amanda Shaw Hashem (Tom) and their families, her son Hamilton Bradley Johnson, his wife Jennifer Ross Johnson, and their son William David Johnson, her brother-in-law Warren Richards (Kim), and her nephew Zach Richards (Michele) are the only surviving family members of Diane. Vera Mae Turner Edge and David Shafford Edge, Diane’s parents, her brother Danny Allen Edge, and her sister Kathy Anne Edge Richards all predeceased her. She regularly spoke of them with affection and fondness and expressed how much she missed them.
