Derrick Thurman Obituary, Death – A 14-year-old boy and a 36-year-old woman were killed in separate shootings that took place Wednesday morning within approximately five minutes of one another, according to Kansas City police. A kid named Derrick Thurman was discovered with gunshot wounds at around 5:35 in the morning close to a residence in the 8300 block of Wayne Avenue in the Marlborough Heights-Marborough Pride area, according to a Kansas City Police Department spokesperson.

Thurman was pronounced dead there and then. A crash along westbound Interstate 670 in Kansas City’s downtown loop was reported to 911 only a short time later, at 5:40 a.m. on Wednesday, according to police. A second 911 caller reported that someone had been shot as police arrived at the scene of the collision.

Inside a car, officers discovered Crystal Rayner, a lady with gunshot wounds. Soon later, she passed away in the hospital. According to data maintained by The Star, which includes deadly police shootings, the killings represented the 81st and 82nd homicides in Kansas City this year. By the conclusion of the year, there had been 171 fatalities, making last year’s 69 killings by this point the second-deadliest year on record.
