
Daniel Cullison Obituary, Death – According to the East Bay Regional Parks Police Department, the body of a man who passed away while trying to rescue an oar from Lake Del Valle on Saturday afternoon has been found. The man was attempting to retrieve the oar. The Alameda County Coroner’s Office was able to positively identify the individual as Daniel Cullison, who was 26 years old and from San Jose.
At approximately 3:51 p.m., Cullison’s family entered the water to hunt for an oar that had fallen out of the boat that his family was using. According to the police, officers were flagged down by Cullison’s family. According to the family, he started his search at a cove directly across the lake from East Beach, which is just outside of the area that is secured.
The eyewitnesses at the scene reported to the police that a man entered the water and immediately began to fight before his head went below the surface of the water. After a few minutes had passed, the police were called.
The body of Cullison was located at 9:21 p.m. and turned over to the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau for further investigation. His identity was verified after his nearest of kin were contacted and informed about the situation.
