Charlene Simpson Obituary, Death – Charlene “Char” Rose Kobes Simpson, born August 1st, 1950, died on June 8th, 2023, following a valiant nine-month struggle with non-differential cancer. She passed away at Warrenville, Illinois, in her own bed, surrounded by her loving family, and on her own terms. Char was the great-grandchild of Giueppe Delgatto, Filomena Suglia, Pasquale Bartolomeo, and Angela Dolcimele on her paternal side and Matej Kobes, Dorota Sleis, Joseph Hanzal, and Rozalie Frantesl on her maternal side.

She was the grandchild of Salvatore Delgatto and Therese Bartolomeo on the maternal side and John Kobes and Rose Hanzal on the paternal. Char always felt proud to be Charles Kobes and Barbara Rose Delgatto’s only child. As a skilled genealogist and “keeper” and “DIGGER” of her family’s history, Char now lies among all of her ancestors, reaching the moment she waited for her entire life. Dale F. Simpson Sr., Char’s devoted and loving husband of 52 years, is left behind.

Everyone admired Char and “Big D”‘s devotion to one another and their exceptional desire for each other. Dr. Dale F. Simpson Jr., a well-known archaeologist, as well as Christina Barbara Ignatius and her loving husband Frank Ignatius, Char’s other children, all survive her.

The cards, flowers, gifts, dinners, check-ins, prayers, and love have been much appreciated by her family. We also acknowledge the outstanding staff of experts and nurses at Angel’s Grace Hospice Care. As we say farewell to a strong woman, a keeper, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, an aunt, a cousin, and a friend, the world is a little bit darker today without the brightness Char brought to it.
