Cece Duvall Obituary, Death –¬†On October 12, 1950, he wed Jane Marie Loupias in Djatinegara, Indonesia.John served in the Dutch Royal Army and was taken prisoner of war by the Japanese during World War II. After graduating from art school in Holland, he went back to Java, Indonesia, in 1951 to teach and publish books on art instruction. He then returned to Holland in 1956 and immigrated to the United States in 1963.

From Ottumwa Schools, John retired as a junior high school art instructor. In Fairfield, he also provided instruction at Parsons College. His church of affiliation was First Christian. He liked reading literature on Indonesian culture and painting surrealism works as John Schlechter Duvall. Following his death.

Duvall is survived by his second wife, Yuyun Sriningsih Schlechter of Surabaya, Indonesia; son Robert Schlechter of Eagan, Minnesota; daughter Irene Fishburn (Glenn) of Cedar Rapids; son Jerry Schlechter (Debbie) of Ottumwa; daughter Bellina Buban (Paul) of Oskaloosa; daughter Sofia of Indonesia; 11 siblings (whether alive and their locations are unknown at this time); grandson  great-granddaughter, Michaela-Ann Schlechter of Ottumwa; great-grandson, Jackson Slater Jones of Portland, Ore.; great-grandson, Phoenix Paul Jones of Portland, Ore.; great-granddaughter, Hailey Buban of Oskaloosa.He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Marie Schlechter.
