
Calvin Irwin Obituary, Death – On May 31, 2023, Calvin Leon Irwin, 63, of Britton passed away in ProMedica Toledo Hospital. He was the son of the late Robert George and Madalyn Eunice (Downing) Irwin and was born in Tecumseh on December 17, 1959. He wed Therese Marie Villeneuve on March 27, 2003 at Heritage Park in Adrian, and the two have been married for 20 years.
In 1977, Calvin received his high school diploma from Britton. He has more than 25 years of experience working for the Village of Britton’s Department of Public Works. Calvin served in the Reserves of the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office and the Ridgeway Twp. Fire Department. He cherished maintaining and repairing tractors, fixing everything, mowing the lawn, and working in his garden. He and his wife enjoyed spending time on the porch, where they were known as the “Porch Monkeys” because whenever you passed by the house, you would receive a wave from them whether they were relaxing on the porch or working in the yard.
Besides his wife, Therese, Calvin is survived by his children, Leland Irwin of Britton, Dustin (Amber) Irwin of Palmyra, Emily Shock of Inkster, Ashley Shock of Belleville and Markie (Taylor) Shock of Manchester; a brother, Chuck (Debbra) Irwin of Britton; two sisters, Connie Raymond of Adrian and Cheryl (Norman) Seegert of Dundee; seven grandchildren, Cayden Shock, Keeyara Dorsey, Elizabeth Irwin, Calvin Irwin, Max Irwin, Bo Shock and Allison Shock. Calvin was predeceased by his daughter Jennifer Irwin, two sisters Cathy Irwin and Carol Withrow, and nephew Billy Lee Raymond in addition to his parents and his first wife, Suzanne.
Calvin’s visitation will take place in the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes on Monday, June 5, 2023 from 4 pm to 8 pm, with a fireman walkthrough at 7 pm. Pastor Dave McCarty will officiate at the funeral home’s Tuesday at 11 a.m. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the service. In Ridgeway Cemetery, there will be a burial.
