Austin MN Shooting – The Austin Police Department is asking for assistance from the public in locating a vehicle and people who may be related to a drive-by shooting that occurred on Saturday night. According to APD, there was a drive-by shooting Friday night about 10:40 p.m. that resulted in one man’s death and at least two other people being hurt.
A 2020 Dodge Durango in white with the license plate JAG300 from Minnesota is wanted by investigators. Additionally, investigators are looking for two people who they believe to have been in the Durango at the time of the incident. They are Cham Oman, a 28-year-old Austin resident who is thought to have been operating the Durango, and Manamany Abella, who is said to have been a passenger.
Authorities have warned the public not to approach Abella and Oman since they are thought to be armed and dangerous. Call the Austin Police Department at 507-437-9400 or ring 911 if you have any information about their location or know where the Durango may be.
Officers responded to a 911 report regarding a car that had struck an empty house at 701 4th Street North in Austin at 10:40 p.m. on Friday, according to APD. Inside the car were two injured passengers and a dead male. Further investigation by the police revealed that only moments before the collision, five persons were inside the vehicle on the 700 block of 2nd Street Northwest when the Durango approached and someone inside started firing. When the victim car started to roll, it struck the house on 4th Street North. At the site, the victim’s car’s driver’s death was confirmed. For an autopsy and official identification, he has been brought to the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. Once his family has been informed, his name will be made public.
