Arnold Gardner Obituary, Death – The news of the loss of Chief Arnold Gardner of Migisi Sahgaigan came as a shock to the members of Grand Council Treaty , who were also filled with sadness at the news. During this difficult time, we would like to offer our most sincere thoughts and sympathies to the Gardner family as well as the family of Chief Gardner. An immense sense of grief has been brought upon all of us as a result of the devastating news that Chief Arnold Gardner of the Migisi Sahgaigan tribe had gone away.
Chief Gardner was instrumental in the administration of Treaty for the Anishinaabe Nation and provided a great deal of assistance to the nation during the process. Not only was he a former Ogichidaa, but he was also well regarded by the staff, and the current Ogichidaa, Francis Kavanaugh, has been a personal friend of his for the entirety of his life. Ogichidaa Francis Kavanaugh had been Chief Gardner’s constant companion throughout the entirety of his life.
As a consequence of this, the administration of Treaty for the Anishinaabe Nation regarded him as an essential participant in the procedure. The entire group that was working on Grand Council Treaty #3 will miss him terribly for a variety of reasons, some of which include his infectious grin, his insightful yet understated remarks, and his unflinching commitment to the wellbeing of our nation.
His views, which he made throughout the length of the discussion, never challenged anyone or attacked anyone else, yet they were always authoritative. His grin was one that perpetually exuded kindness and generosity to those around him.
